Indian Rupee Update
Advisory Bazaar Info Services
The Indian rupee’s recovery remains under pressure amid volatility in crude oil prices and uncertainty surrounding the US Federal Reserve’s interest rate decision.
The rupee has recently found support from possible intervention by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). In the previous trading session, the Indian currency closed at 95.8525 against the US dollar.
Global crude oil prices have remained volatile, with Brent crude falling to around US$82.50 per barrel before rebounding to trade near US$87.50 per barrel. Ongoing geopolitical tensions involving the United States and Israel, along with developments around the Strait of Hormuz, continue to raise concerns over global oil supply and market stability.
Market participants are now focused on the US Federal Reserve’s monetary policy decision. While the consensus expects the Fed to keep interest rates unchanged, the possibility of future rate hikes cannot be completely ruled out.
Investors will also closely monitor the Fed Chair’s remarks following the policy announcement, as any guidance on inflation, interest rates, and the economic outlook could influence the US dollar, Treasury yields, global capital flows, and the direction of the Indian rupee.
