📊 Precious Metals Outlook

Advisory Bazaar Info Services

🔻 Bearish Factors

* Escalating geopolitical tensions between the US and Iran pushed crude oil prices sharply higher, with WTI trading above $74/bbl and Brent nearing $80/bbl. Higher oil prices have lifted inflation expectations, increasing the likelihood of higher interest rates and putting pressure on non-yielding assets like gold and silver.

* The US Fed’s June meeting minutes struck a hawkish tone, reducing expectations of near-term rate cuts. Higher real interest rate expectations continued to weigh on precious metals, leading to renewed selling pressure.

* The US Dollar Index remained firm around 101, while the 10-year US Treasury yield climbed to 4.77%. A stronger dollar and rising bond yields created a double headwind for gold and silver. In addition, gold ETFs witnessed outflows during June, reflecting weak short-term investor sentiment.

🟢 Bullish Factors

* Central banks continued to accumulate gold for the 20th consecutive month, providing strong long-term support and limiting the downside in gold prices.

* Weaker-than-expected US June Non-Farm Payrolls eased concerns of further Fed rate hikes. The softer dollar and lower Treasury yields triggered fresh buying in gold and silver, highlighting their resilience after recent declines.

* Although gold ETFs recorded outflows in June, overall ETF inflows during the first half of the year remained positive. Persistent inflation concerns continue to support the long-term investment case for precious metals as an effective inflation hedge.

📌 Market Outlook

Precious metals are likely to remain volatile in the near term, with the market closely watching the upcoming US CPI inflation and retail sales data. Stronger-than-expected inflation could reinforce expectations of a hawkish Fed and keep pressure on gold and silver. However, weaker economic data, softer bond yields, and a weaker US dollar could revive buying interest and support a recovery in precious metals.
