On Tuesday, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq closed lower, while the Dow Jones edged up to its third consecutive record close, as investors digested weak retail sales data and awaited a key U.S. labor market report.
Asian stocks are trading higher on Wednesday, supported by softer U.S. retail sales figures that strengthened expectations of a Federal Reserve rate cut later this year.
Oil prices also moved higher, driven by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East—particularly developments involving Iran—which outweighed data showing a significant build in U.S. crude inventories. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) rose above $64 per barrel.
