Magnesium Market Update (China)

🔹 Magnesium Raw Materials

Prices:

▪️ 1–3 cm dolomite (Wutai), ex-factory (ex-tax): 108 yuan/mt, unchanged

▪️ 2–4 cm dolomite (Wutai), ex-factory (ex-tax): 128 yuan/mt, unchanged

▪️ Mainstream ex-factory price of 75 ferrosilicon in Shaanxi: 5,850 yuan/mt

Supply & Demand:

▪️ Dolomite prices in Wutai remained stable.

▪️ Leading producers have confirmed production halts, tightening the supply of high-quality dolomite.

▪️ High operating rates at primary magnesium plants continue to support dolomite demand, keeping prices well supported.

▪️ The most-traded ferrosilicon futures contract (2603) closed at 5,736 yuan, up 122 yuan.

▪️ Spot ferrosilicon supply remained stable; downstream buyers adopted just-in-time procurement.

➡️ Ferrosilicon prices are expected to fluctuate within a range.

🔹 Magnesium Ingot

Prices:

▪️ Mainstream transaction price in Fugu: 16,700 yuan/mt, up 150 yuan/mt

▪️ China FOB: $2,360–2,410/mt

Supply & Demand:

▪️ Primary smelters maintained firm quotations.

▪️ Downstream buyers gradually entered the market for just-in-time stocking.

▪️ Some transactions were concluded at higher price levels, but overall follow-up remained weak.

➡️ Magnesium prices are expected to remain firm in the short term.

🔹 Magnesium Alloy

Prices:

▪️ Mainstream tax-included ex-factory price: 18,850–19,050 yuan/mt

▪️ China FOB: $2,630–2,690/mt

Supply & Demand:

▪️ Magnesium alloy prices rose in line with magnesium ingot prices.

▪️ Benchmark ingot prices increased by 200 yuan/mt day-on-day.

▪️ Auxiliary material prices stayed at high levels with limited fluctuations.

▪️ Spot availability remained tight, and processing fees are expected to stay firm.

🔹 Magnesium Powder

Prices:

▪️ 20–80 mesh magnesium powder, tax-included ex-factory: 17,800–18,000 yuan/mt

▪️ China FOB: $2,520–2,570/mt

Supply & Demand:

▪️ The magnesium powder market operated steadily.

▪️ Domestic buyers continued need-based purchasing.

▪️ New export orders remained limited.

▪️ Rising magnesium ingot costs led to a mild increase in powder quotations.
